PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Uber will serve as a national supplier for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, the ridesharing service announced Tuesday.

The event will be held March 17 through 20 at the Oregon Convention Center.

In addition to providing rides for spectators, Uber will assist with transporting athletes. There will be dedicated pick-up and drop-off points near the venue and Pioneer Courthouse Square, where medal ceremonies will be held, according to Uber.

"With thousands of spectators and elite athletes expected to visit the Portland area, we’re thrilled to partner with the IAAF World Indoor Championships to help make it easier for riders to get to and from events safely and reliably at the push of a button," said Bryce Bennett, Uber’s general manager in Oregon.

New Uber users can use promo code ROADTOPDX to get up to $15 off first ride.
