PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

If you would like to avoid traffic delays due to bridge lifts, there is now an app for that.

The app is called Bridge Alerts. It was created by Multnomah County IT staff along with interns from a local IT vocational school, Epidocus.

Commuters can download the app for free.

The app will notify commuters when one of the four drawbridges opens for a boat or for maintenance. The four drawbridges are the Broadway, Burnside, Hawthorne and the Morrison Bridge.

The Interstate Bridge and the Steel Bridge are not included, because they are not operated by the county.

Bridge Alerts is now available for free on Google Play for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iOS devices.
