WILSONVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

Robots took over Wilsonville High School Friday for the Pacific Northwest District 3 Robotics Competition, where 33 teams got to show off their hard work.

The competition emphasizes hands-on learning of science and technology.

Each team had 6 weeks to build their robots.

This year, there was a medieval theme to it.

Each robot had to throw, ‘boulders’ at castles and climb up walls.

There was an all-girls team participating this year, and they hope their presence makes other girls interested in science.

"It's very important to us because we come from a somewhat liberal arts based school and so we really want to extend a hand and make sure girls feel included in the STEM field," said one of the participants.

The competition runs through Saturday.
