Man gets 50 months in prison for killing Vancouver PD K-9

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for stabbing and killing a local police K-9.

Jacky Chan Karuo pleaded guilty in Clark County Court Friday.

In September, Karuo ran from officers who were trying to arrest him for domestic violence.

Police K-9 Ike found him hiding in some brush when Karuo stabbed the dog six times.

Ike was rushed to Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Ike had been in service with the Vancouver Police Department since 2012, service with his handler Officer Jack Anderson.

Anderson was in court Friday as Karuo was sentenced to 50 months in prison.
