Oregon City Police take man into custody after shots fired call

Posted: Updated:

The Oregon City Police Department investigated reports of shots fired around 9 a.m. Saturday.

According to police reports, the suspect,  Steven Scholz, was taken into custody and is on a mental hold. Officers said Scholz shot multiple rounds inside his home, with bullets hitting two neighboring homes and a car.

Deanna Segura lives next to Scholz and said her home was struck by nine gun shots.

“One in my master bedroom where my 9-year-old was sitting in my bed watching a show, two in our garage,” Segura wrote on Facebook.

Segura added that police and the SWAT team were in the neighborhood for about an hour.

“I’m glad none of my family, none of my neighbors were hurt,” neighbor Felix Carroll said.

Police investigators said they seized multiple legally-owned firearms and criminal charges have been filed for the District Attorney to review.

“I want him locked up,” David Sohm said. “We would rather not have him be released to the community so quickly.”

Segura has set up a Facebook page for neighbors to voice their concerns.
