Silverton honors two volunteer firefighters

SILVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Volunteer firefighters make up the force for many of our state’s smaller communities, and Silverton is honoring two of theirs.

The Silverton Fire District named Max Hughes as firefighter of the year. Hughes volunteers out of the district’s main station.

Silverton Fire also named Battalion Chief Fred Bridgehouse as officer of the year. He has been a volunteer with Silverton Fire since 1980.

Other firefighters recognized were Matt Smith as Emergency Medical Technician of the year, and Rookie of the year went to Brady Woodward.

The lifetime membership award went to 25-year veteran Captain Jim Terhaar.
