Coast Guard rescues 5 people stuck while boating in Willapa Bay

WILLAPA BAY, WA (KPTV) -

The Coast Guard was called to a water rescue after five people got stuck while boating in near Long Island Washington Sunday morning.

According to the Coast Guard, the rescue happened at around 9 a.m.

Two men and three children were stuck in Willapa Bay after taking their boat across it to camp overnight, but they could not leave because of the weather, according to the Coast Guard.

With wind gusts picking up and expected to get worse, a helicopter from air station Astoria was sent out.

Everyone is said to be okay.
