Mountain storm extends ski season on Mt. Hood

MOUNT HOOD, OR (KPTV) -

Several inches of fresh snow coated the slopes of Mt. Hood on Sunday, with skiers and snowboarders taking full advantage.

Mt. Hood Meadows saw 16 inches of new snow over a two-day span, giving the ski area a 220 inch base at mid-mountain, said Dave Tragethon, a spokesman for Mt. Hood Meadows.

Mt. Hood Meadows said they currently have the deepest snow pack in the country, and it's only going to get better.

Tragethon said the new snow, along with more snow forecast in the coming days, should allow the ski area to stay open until mid-May.

Weather officials expect another four to eight inches of new snow on Monday.
