PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Timbers announced two personnel moves Monday, the acquisition of a Cascadia Cup rival and the contract extension for the team’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Winger/forward Darren Mattocks comes to the Timbers from Vancouver, where he played in 93 matches with 52 starts. The second-overall pick in the 2012 SuperDraft, Mattocks has 19 career goals.

“Darren is a versatile attacking player that brings additional MLS and international experience to the club, and we are excited to welcome him to the team,” Gavin Wilkinson, GM/president of soccer for the Timbers, said in a release.

The team also announced Monday that they had signed forward Fanendo Adi to a contract extension.

Adi leads the MLS-era club in goals scored with 26, and he played every minute of the teams MLS Championship playoff run last season.

The Timbers, currently at 1-1, will host Real Salt Lake Saturday at Providence Park at 7:30 p.m. with the match airing on Fox 12.
