LEBANON, OR (KPTV) -

Police responded to a Lebanon home Monday afternoon after receiving a call about a woman who had been shot in the leg by a neighbor.

Officers arrived and found no one inside the home.

Investigators determined the call was actually a false report known as "swatting." Swatting is essentially a prank call that leads to an unneeded law enforcement response.

In this case, the caller claimed his wife had been shot in the leg by a neighbor at their home on the 3200 block of Oak Terrace. Multiple Lebanon officers and Linn County deputies responded to the scene, with medics on stand-by in the area.

The initial call came from a Florida phone number.

This case is still under investigation by the Lebanon Police Department. Anyone with further information about this case or others like it is asked to contact Lebanon police.
