PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An Alaska Airlines flight headed to Seattle was diverted to Portland on Monday night because of an unruly passenger.

The Boeing 737 with 162 passengers landed at Portland International Airport around 9:30 p.m. from Sacramento.

Alaska Airlines officials said Flight 800 left Sacramento and was on its way to Seattle when an intoxicated passenger in the ninth row became angry and disorderly.

Crews said they tried to calm the man but he became more agitated.

Port of Portland police took the man into custody as soon as the plane arrived at the gate. He is not facing criminal charges.

The plane took off again around 10:30 p.m. and arrived in Seattle at 11:30 p.m.
