Two people are in the hospital after the car they were in crashed into a semi-truck on Highway 97 in Jefferson County early Tuesday morning.

Oregon State Police arrived at the scene near Iris Lane around 3:30 a.m.

Police said a 2008 Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound down Iris Lane when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign with Hwy 97.

A semi-truck driven by Warren Ramey,72, was traveling northbound down the highway and ran into the Toyota, according to officials.

Officers said the car rolled multiple times and came to a rest in a nearby field.

Foster was taken to the hospital by air with life threatening injures. The driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said alcohol was involved with this incident. The 16-year-old driver was cited for DUII, reckless driving and 2nd degree assault.
