PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man who ran away from a crash that killed a 26-year-old passenger in his car in northeast Portland more than a month ago was arrested in Washington on Wednesday, according to police.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested 36-year-old David Saucedo in Mason County, near Elma, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was booked into the Mason County Jail and will face charges in Multnomah County, according to police.

He is accused of running away from the scene of a two-car crash that killed one person and injured three others in Portland.

Emergency crews responded to Northeast 157th Avenue and Halsey Street at 5:32 a.m. Feb. 13. Investigators said Saucedo failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed his car into a pickup driven by 40-year-old Michael Genuine.

Police said Peter West Gefre, 26, of Gresham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Gefre was a passenger in Saucedo's car. Three other people in his car were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. They were identified as 32-year-old Gabriel Xesmas Mata, 18-year-old Elizabeth Tate and 26-year-old Nicholas Bennett.

No timeline was released for extraditing Saucedo to Oregon to face charges in connection with the crash. Investigators also did not immediately release any details about what led to his arrest in Washington.
