BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Beaverton School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Rose has been named the sole finalist to take over as superintendent of a school district in Georgia.

The Fulton County Board of Education expects to complete a two-week public comment period and vote to offer the position to Rose by April 1. He would then start June 1.

Rose has been superintendent in Beaverton for the past five years.

The Beaverton School Board will begin the process of identifying an interim superintendent to serve during the 2016-2017 school year. During that time, the board will conduct a comprehensive search for its next permanent superintendent.

Rose released a statement Thursday saying, "The Beaverton School District is an incredible place to serve, lead and learn. I know how fortunate I am to work on behalf of our students and community. The Beaverton community supports and collaborates with us in so many ways. I am very grateful."
