VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A Secret Service security team and members of Bernie Sander’s campaign were at Hudson’s Bay High Friday night preparing for the Vermont senator’s Sunday rally at the school, according to a Hudson’s Bay security official.

Bernie Sanders will be speaking in Vancouver ahead of Washington’s upcoming Caucasus. He also has scheduled rallies in Seattle and Spokane.

Friday evening there was growing excitement for Sander’s supporters who came out for a canvassing event. More than 100 people turned out to talk about recruiting voters, and many said they hope to attend the upcoming rally.

“If we can make it on Sunday that would be wonderful,” Janis Grochala said.

The rally will be held at 1:00 p.m. with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. The campaign said RSVP tickets to the event are already gone, but some people will be able get in on a first-come, first serve basis.

The high school holds about 1,400 people. In August, Sanders spoke to a crowd of 20,000 in Portland.

Supporters expect he’ll stick to his stump speech Sunday.

“Income inequality, which I think is vitally important,” Marq Goldberg said.

Sanders will have to make up quite a bit of ground to win the nomination. Currently former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has nearly twice as many delegates as Sanders.

When asked if he’d vote for Clinton if she won the nomination, Goldberg was unsure.

"I have mixed feelings about that,” he said. “I think if Bernie does not win this nomination, it’s not looking good for the Democrats come November.”

Clinton also has rallies slated for Washington this month. She plans to go to Seattle and Everett.
