PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A driver has been arrested after a deadly crash involving a teenager on a bicycle.

The quiet southeast Portland neighborhood near Center Street and 142nd Avenue was turned into a deadly crash scene Saturday afternoon.

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau said a 17-year old bicyclist was hit and killed after a crash involving a pick-up truck.

Neighbors gathered around as officers and the Major Crash Team showed up, shortly after the pick-up crashed into a bicyclist, who died at the scene.

Residents who live nearby are concerned about safety on the main road that runs through their neighborhood.

"People go pretty fast down this road,” Alex Tappin said. “It's pretty big, it's not a narrow road, so people go fast down this road all the time."

As the investigation continues, thoughts are with the victim of the accident.

"I used to ride my bike around here. We'd go down that road right there and go around and back on Center Street," Mahir Lisic said. "I am feeling kind of scared for the parents of this person. Because if you had a child that passed away, I don't know how it would feel."

Police say they arrested 55-year-old Franklin Drobny for Reckless Driving, DUII, and Manslaughter charges.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

The identity of the teenager has not yet been released.
