OHSU breaks ground on new guest house

Posted: Updated:

OHSU broke ground on a major expansion today, a gust house that will provide lodging for out of town patients and their families.

The hospital also announced Gary and Christine Rood will donate $12 million to the construction of the guest house.

The house will be named the Gary and Christine Rood Family Pavilion.

When complete, the 5-story pavilion will host up to 3,000 patients, families, and caregivers, and will include a communal kitchen, exercise space, and places for children to play.

Almost half of OHSU’s patients live in rural Oregon or neighboring states.
