A man held a woman against her will and attacked her in a Yamhill County home, according to deputies.

The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office and McMinnville Police Department responded to the 18000 block of Southwest Baker Creek Road in rural McMinnville at 1 p.m. Monday.

The woman said she knows the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Joseph Chevy Gage, and believed he was on methamphetamine.

The woman said she escaped and Gage chased her down the road to a neighbor's house.

Gage was located in a home and deputies said when they approached the door they saw him run deeper into the house.

Deputies said they were familiar with Gage, as they had probable cause to arrest him in a separate stolen car case from earlier in the month.

Deputies entered the home and said they found Gage hiding in an overhead crawl space. Another man in the home, 19-year-old Luis Gerardo Villegas of Salem, was taken into custody for an outstanding burglary warrant in Marion County.

Gage was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on charges of first-degree kidnapping, coercion, strangulation and fourth-degree assault. His bail was set at $235,000.
