CLACKAMAS, OR (KPTV) -

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to participate in a prescription drug take-back event this weekend.

It is extremely important to correctly dispose of prescription medications once they are no longer needed by the patient.

Since prescription medications are among the most commonly abused drugs and can be harmful to wildlife when flushed down the toilet, take-back programs are the best option for disposing of unused medications.

Deputies will be available Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Center to accept unwanted medications, no questions asked.

For residents that can’t make the April 30 event, Clackamas County also has convenient permanent drop-boxes in ten locations around the county for easy prescription medication disposal.

For more information, contact the Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit at 503-785-5077 or by email at crimeprevention@clackamas.us.
