HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

A guitar teacher who sexually abused an underage student was sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday.

Shaun Toman, 33, pleaded guilty last week to three counts of first-degree sex abuse and using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.

Toman was arrested in November 2015.

Police said the abuse occurred between 2001 and 2010 involving at least two victims. Toman provided guitar lessons to the victims, got close to them and sexually abused them, according to investigators.

A probable cause affidavit states when Toman was arrested he admitted to police that he sexually abused a girl when she was between 11 and 17 years old at a home in Hillsboro.

Court documents state Tomas also admitted to recording a sexual act with the girl and told police he needed "counseling for his problem."

As part of his sentencing Tuesday, Tomas was ordered to register as a sex offender.
