PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland-area residents have an opportunity to discover a new restaurant, and contribute to an important cause.

The eighth annual Dining Out for Life Portland happens Thursday.

Between 20 percent to 30 percent  of customers' bills at participating restaurants will go directly to Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s HIV Day Center, and the Partnership Project.

Both organizations work closely together to provide vital programs and services to thousands of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Partnership Project is entering its 20th year, and provides clinical services to HIV positive patients in the Portland Metro Area.

Last year, 900 people living with HIV/AIDS were served through the organizations Medical and Nursing Case Management services, according to the Dining out for Life website.

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon HIV Day Center is celebrating its 26th anniversary, and is the oldest multi-service drop in center for low income individuals infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in the United States.

According to the Dining Out for Life website, the center serves approximately 300 people yearly, providing them with two hot meals a day, information and referral services, computer and internet access, phones, shower and laundry facilities and recovery support as well as volunteer professionals who provide services such as massage therapy, acupuncture and haircuts.
