A Clark County Sheriff's Office deputy fired a shot at a man armed with a gun in Camas on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies and Camas Police Department officers responded to reports of a disturbance and threats involving a weapon on the 6600 block of Northeast 232nd Avenue at 12:30 p.m.

When they arrived, investigators said they were confronted by a man brandishing a firearm.

A deputy fired one round and the man was disarmed and taken into custody. Investigators said the man was not hit by the shot and was not injured in the incident, but he did complain of chest pain.

The man was taken to the hospital, but the sheriff's office said his condition was not known Thursday.

The man has not been arrested or charged with a crime at this time.

The deputy who fired the shot has been placed on routine paid critical incident leave.

The incident is now being investigated by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit.
