Battle Ground man charged with child molestation; daycare license suspended

Posted: Updated:

A Battle Ground man has been arrested on child molestation charges and the license of a daycare he is connected to has been suspended.

The Battle Ground Police Department began an investigation Tuesday of a report of a sexual assault involving a child.

Jeffery Johnson, 53, was subsequently arrested on the charge of second-degree child molestation.

Investigators said the crimes occurred at Johnson's home, which is also the location of a daycare facility. Police said there is no indication at this time of any criminal acts involving children at the daycare.

No other details were released Thursday by investigators.

The name of the daycare was not immediately released by police. Child Protective Services is conducting an investigation and the daycare license has been suspended pending the outcome of that investigation, according to the Battle Ground Police Department.
