PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police made a major drug bust in Washington County that led to the seizure of 14 kilograms of cocaine worth $1.5 million.

Portland Police Bureau Drugs and Vice Division officers conducted a traffic stop near Southwest 170th and Merlo Road in the Beaverton area on Wednesday. The people in the car were believed to be involved in trafficking cocaine.

During a search of the vehicle, police said drug K-9 Lola located one kilogram of cocaine. Drugs and Vice Division investigators, assisted by the Westside Interagency Narcotics team, subsequently served a search warrant at a Washington County home in connection with the case.

That led to an additional 13 kilograms of cocaine, according to police, as well as around $150,000 in cash. Investigators said the cash is suspected to be from drug sales.

Detectives said the street value of the seized cocaine is $1.5 million.

Rosendo Elvira-Vergara, 40, and Cayetano Alejandre-Alcaraz, 39, were booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of delivery and possession of cocaine. Police said they are believed to be high level dealers in a drug trafficking organization.

Alejandre-Alcaraz posted bail Thursday morning, but was then taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Elvira-Vergara remained in jail Thursday with bail set at $3 million.
