Clackamas deputies locate two lost teens near Canby

Posted: Updated:

Clackamas County deputies rescued two teen boys Tuesday after they became lost while fishing on the Molalla River.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old called for help around 9:30 p.m. Monday, saying they had lost their way in the dark.

The two fisherman had ridden their bikes along the trail earlier in the day, and then left the bikes to make their way through some thick brush to the riverbank, according to deputies.

When they attempted to make their way back to the bikes, the brush prevented them from finding the trail.

Deputies and search and rescue teams were able to narrow down the location of the boys near the Molalla and Willamette rivers.

Crews found the boys just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies said they were cold and hungry but otherwise okay.
