SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for a deadly shooting at a Salem home in 2015.

Robert Gordon Davis, 32, pleaded guilty last week to charges of murder with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and recklessly endangering another person.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting on the 2100 block of Surfwood Drive Northeast on May 29, 2015.

Investigators said Davis was outside the home and shot 24-year-old Jose Garcia-Roldan who was standing in the doorway.

Davis fired six shots, with one hitting Garcia-Roldan and the other five shots hitting the house.

Investigators said two of the bullets penetrated the exterior walls and passed through the living room. Four people were in the living room at the time, including the victim's 23-year-old wife and their 6-month-old baby.

Detectives said both Davis and Garcia-Roldan were involved in gangs and the shooting was related to a gang dispute.

Garcia-Roldan was on life support for 15 days before he died at the hospital.

Davis was captured five days after the shooting by the Marion County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Salem Police Department Gang Enforcement Unit.

Davis was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison with parole possible after 35 years. The Marion County District Attorney's Office said his sentence is greater than the 25-year minimum due to previous and persistent convictions for violent crimes including menacing, strangulation, assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
