WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -

Woodburn police officers said they have seen immediate benefits from the department's new mobile app.

The Woodburn Police Department launched its app for Apple, Android and Windows platforms last month.

On Monday, an officer was showing the app to a community member, who recognized a wanted suspect listed under the "Woodburn's Most Wanted" section of the app.

The person told the officer that Wilfrido Manriguez-Dominguez frequents the Woodburn 7-Eleven store.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, that person contacted police again to say Manriguez-Dominguez was in fact at the convenience store.

Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody. Manriguez-Dominguez, 37, was wanted for identity theft and booked into the Marion County Jail.

"This is one of the key reasons why I wanted to get this app launched," said Woodburn Police Chief Jim Ferraris. "It has been out a week and we have had tips come and now have made an arrest of one of our most wanted criminals. Our officers are doing a great job of getting the word out to the community, and we are seeing immediate results."
