A man was arrested after running from the scene of a rollover crash on I-5 in Portland and then running from officers who tracked him down at a MAX platform, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to southbound I-5 at the Going Street exit at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday.

As officers were on the way, a 911 caller reported that one of the vehicles was on its side and the driver ran away.

Officers found a man matching the description of the driver on a MAX platform at North Interstate Avenue. Police said he ran into a neighborhood, but was eventually taken into custody.

Monte Wes McMullen, 19, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, failure to perform the duties of a driver (hit-and-run), reckless driving and attempt to elude on foot.

Investigators learned the car was stolen with switched license plates.

Officers said they found a handgun inside the flipped car, but it was later determined to be a replica firearm.

There were no injuries in connection with the crash, according to police.
