Water balloons thrown from a car led to a hit-and-run investigation that involved a man being dragged by a car and left injured on a Sherwood road, according to police.

Officers responded to Southwest Pine Street at Railroad Street at 5:53 p.m. Monday. They located an injured 21-year-old man and learned he had possibly been struck by a maroon PT Cruiser.

Officers located the car a short time later being driven by a 24-year-old woman.

Investigators said the incident began when someone threw water balloons from the PT Cruiser at another car. The other car followed the PT Cruiser, which stopped on Southwest Pine Street near Cannery Square Plaza.

Police said a man got out of the car and went to the passenger side of the PT Cruiser. An argument ensued and the PT Cruiser sped off with the man somehow caught on the passenger side.

The man was dragged and eventually thrown into a large bollard when the PT Cruiser swerved, according to investigators.  He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made in the case. Police said it remains under investigation and will be referred to the Washington County District Attorney's Office for review.

Any witnesses or anyone with additional information about this investigation is asked to call the non-emergency police line at 503-629-0111.
