VERNONIA, OR (KPTV) -

Vernonia schools will be on lockout Friday due to a threat.

Administrators posted a letter online that was sent home to parents stating the person making the threat has been identified and police are investigating.

The threat of violence was made for Friday and was described as "potentially credible" by administrators.

"While we are confident this threat will not materialize, we will be holding school under lockout on Friday, May 6," the letter states.

Lockout means classes will continue as normal, but all doors will be locked and nobody will be allowed in and no students will be allowed to leave the building.

Counselors will be available to students Friday.

No other details were immediately available about the threat.
