51 arrested, 17 firearms seized during Operation Safe Spring in April

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with the Multnomah County Department of Community Justice, conducted Operation Safe Spring during the month of April.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, operation Safe Spring went from April 7 to April 20 in response to the ongoing gang and gun violence in Portland.

The results of the effort were announced Friday at the North Precinct, located at 449 Northeast Emerson Street.

According to Portland Police, a total of 51 people were arrested during Operation Safe Spring on a variety of charges, including attempted aggravated murder, assault in the first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and numerous state and federal warrants.

Officers served search warrants on 12 people, 4 residences and 5 vehicles.

Additionally, 236 people were searched, along with two residences and 26 vehicles.

Seventeen firearms also were seized, along with small amounts of heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and cash during those two weeks according to police.
