An Estacada man captured crystal clear video of a bobcat in broad daylight in his backyard, and the big cat did not come alone.

Greg Schwab saw the bobcat and her young kitten on his farm, Heirloom Ridge, where he grows produce for the his restaurant Seasons and Regions Seafood Grill.

The encounter happened Tuesday evening while he and his wife were getting ready to watch the Blazers game.

Schwab decided it would be a good idea to scare the bobcat off because he has grandkids, cats and chickens.

"With shaking hands and with adrenaline rushing, I wanted to get the picture of the cat. It was not really that afraid of us. We went out to chase it off and it looked at me like you want some of me."

Schwab said the bobcat eventually left after he did plenty of yelling.

The young bobcat was a little more weary of being in an open field. During the video, it dashes back into the brush.

Wildlife officials said bobcats are solitary animals, and young bobcats disperse at about 8-months-old so this one is likely younger than that.

Bobcats can be found throughout Oregon and are usually twice the size of house cats.

Schwab said this bobcat is the biggest one he's ever seen.

While bobcats aren't considered dangerous to humans, they do have a taste for cats and chickens.
