PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Starting Monday, sewer construction on Powell Boulevard will close Southeast 17th Avenue northbound at Southeast Haig Street, according to the Bureau of Environmental Services.

This work is part of the Lower Powell Green Street and Sewer Project to replace or repair 4,500 feet of 100-year-old sewers in poor condition.

According to the Bureau of Environmental services, the northbound Southeast 17th Avenue ramp that merges onto Southeast Powell westbound will be closed for up to 50 days.

During the ramp closure, northbound traffic on Southeast 17th Avenue will detour to Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard.

Crews said the closure will not affect southbound traffic or bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
