Police: New York man arrested in Tualatin for identity theft

TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

Tualatin Police arrested a man after he tried to buy four iPhone's using someone else's name and information on Thursday.

Police responded to the Verizon Wireless store, located at 7174 SW Hazel Fern Road, around 4:30 p.m. on the report of possible fraud.

A store employee reported a man was trying to purchase four iPhone 6 Plus phones under someone else's name and account information. 

Police said the suspect gave them someone else's name and ID card when asked to identify himself. Police said they were able to identify the suspect as Estifany Herrera-Cedano, 37, from New York.

Herrera-Cedano was arrested and charged with first degree theft and identity theft.

During their investigation, police were able to recover evidence from Herrera-Cedano that tied him to a similar incident at the Lake Oswego Verizon Wireless store on the same day.

Herrera-Cedano was issued a citation for the crime of first degree theft and identity theft for the crimes at the Lake Oswego Verizon Wireless.

He has been booked into the Washington County Jail.
