Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Vancouver as a homicide.

Police responded to the 4500 block of Nicholson Road at 4 a.m. Monday on the report of a man dead inside a home. The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit was called out to investigate.

Crime scene tape surrounded an apartment complex in the area Monday.

Police initially described the death as suspicious. On Tuesday, police said the man was shot and the case was being investigated as a homicide.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Investigators also did not release any possible suspect information in this case Tuesday, but police said there is no threat to the public.

Police are asking anyone who may have been traveling along Nicholson Road or Falk Road, between Fourth Plain Boulevard and SR-500, from midnight to 1 a.m. Monday to contact Detective Lawrence Zapata at 360-487-7420 or Detective Tom Topaum at 360-487-7425.

Anyone with surveillance video in those areas is also asked to contact detectives.

"Detectives emphasize that there is no immediate threat to the public," according to a Vancouver Police Department statement.
