PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A beer brewed in honor of an iconic Portland Trail Blazers player raised $50,000 for a Portland children's hospital.

Gilgamesh Brewing and its distribution partner Columbia Distributing announced Tuesday that sales of the brewery's limited-edition The Terry Porter ale led to a major donation for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

The $50,000 donation will assist with the funding of a five-story guest house facility at Oregon Health & Science University's south waterfront campus.

The project will provide housing for patients and families receiving care at OHSU and Doernbecher.

For each 22 ounce bottle sold in stores, Gilgamesh and Columbia Distributing donated $2 to the foundation, as well as $40 for every half-barrel keg sold in bars and restaurants across Oregon.

At the Gilgamesh Campus, $1 was donated for every Terry Porter pint purchased in the restaurant, and $2 during Blazer games.

Porter was named head coach of the University of Portland's men's basketball team last month.
