TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

A woman, her boyfriend and another friend are facing murder charges for the shooting death of her estranged husband in Tigard over a child custody dispute.

Luis Aguilar-Estrada, 26, was found dead by his brother in an apartment on the 9600 block of Southwest McKenzie Street in December 2015.

Investigators said Aguilar-Estrada had been in an ongoing dispute with Mariah Lynn Molina, 22, of Fairview.

Aguilar-Estrada learned his children had been taken from Molina by Oregon Department of Human Services workers the week prior due to allegations of neglect.

Police said subsequent investigation revealed that at the time the children were taken, Molina provided DHS workers with false information about Aguilar-Estrada, saying he was never involved with his kids and was actually in Mexico.

Detectives said Aguilar-Estrada threatened to contact DHS to expose Molina and seek custody of the children.

Investigators believe that Molina then enlisted her boyfriend, 22-year-old Brennan Chance Surface, and his friend, 20-year-old Charlz Laverne Warbonnet, to go with her to Aguilar-Estrada's home.

Police said the trio watched the victim's home the evening of Dec. 14, 2015, and the two men entered his apartment early in the morning.

Police said Aguilar-Estrada was shot in the head at close range.

The homicide investigation lasted for months, leading to a recent grand jury indictment of all three suspects on murder charges.

Molina was booked into the Washington County Jail on murder charges Wednesday. Surface and Warbonnet were already in custody on unrelated warrants.

Surface is currently at the Multnomah County Jail and Warbonnet is in custody at the Jackson County Jail.
