PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Dutch Bros. Coffee said Thursday it collectively raised $758,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during its day-long event “Drink One for Dane” on May 6.

The coffee company said it surpassed last year’s donation by nearly 50 percent, bringing its number of donations over the last 10 years up to $2.53 million.

All 263 Dutch Bros. locations in seven states celebrated the event in honor of late co-founder Dane Boersma who died in 2009 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS.

All proceeds from drinks made on May 6 were donated to the MDA.

Dutch Bros. co-founder Travis Boersma said he is extremely thankful to the Dutch Bros. community, customers and employees alike.

"The impact that is made by our community is beyond what I could have ever imagined," said Travis Boersma. "My mind is blown every year by the generosity of our customers, franchisees and ‘broistas.’"

Dutch Bros. Coffee is well known across the western U.S. for its quick drive-thru service and its friendly and enthusiastic employees.

A Vancouver Dutch Bros. location was put in the spotlight in March after a viral picture was taken of several employees praying with a customer who had just lost her husband.
