PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Hillary Clinton has yet to make a trip to Oregon, but on Thursday, local Latino leaders rallied for her.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa met with Latino leaders to encourage them to help get out the vote before Oregon's primary on May 17.

Villaraigosa chaired the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and also co-chaired Clinton's 2008 Presidential campaign.

On Thursday, Villaraigosa discussed Clinton's plans to break down any barriers that are holding back Latino families in the United States.

Several of the state's Latino leaders have committed to helping Clinton win the presidency.

"She would be the most successful president in terms of bringing about the kinds of changes we need in immigration. I think we really need some leadership at the federal level to bring about the changes that need to happen," said Joseph Gallegos, Oregon State Representative, House District 30.

Clinton said that if she is elected president, she will advocate for immigration reform.
