PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Police Bureau has been named the Grand Marshal for the 2016 Portland General Electric/SOLVE Starlight Parade, officials with the Portland Rose Festival announced Thursday.

The parade will be held on June 4 from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.  Because most of the police will be working the streets that night and unable to ride in a car, the festival is asking spectators to help recognize them with a "Moment of Celebration."

At 9:50 p.m., parade tower announcers along the route will count down the crowd for a cheer.

"For every successful festival there is a strong and supportive infrastructure in city services and protection," said Starlight Parade Chairman Bill Poppino in a release. "The Portland Rose Festival would not be 109 years old if not for the partnership with the Portland Police rank and file, and we want all of fans along the route to help us honor them with a loud cheer."

The Starlight Parade lights up the night with approximately 100 illuminated entries along a 2.25-mile route. The parade draws more than 325,000 spectators to downtown Portland, and will also be broadcast live from 9 to 11 p.m. on FOX 12.
