Landscaping crews busy due to hot weather

Posted: Updated:

Local landscaping crews are extra busy due to this warmer than normal spring.

After a couple of hotter than usual summers, and another one likely on the way, they're very busy installing sprinklers and irrigation systems.

Fox 12 caught up with a crew from Dennis' Seven Dees out in Tualatin on Thursday.

David Snodgrass, the president, said it has been a really busy season because of the weather. It's a good time to plant, but people need to pay attention to water requirements to learn how much to water each plant and how often.
Snodgrass said it is becoming more important to install sprinklers because of the hot, dry summers we've had recently.

He added that there are things you can do to conserve water, like installing smart controllers that adjust sprinklers so they don't come on when it's raining, and installing drip irrigation.

"We try to do drip wherever possible because water, it's a limited resource," Snodgrass said. "The water isn't spraying in the air, so there's really no evaporation. It's all in the ground and next to the plant, where the plant needs it."

He also wanted to remind people to not forget about watering potted plants in your yard as well.
