SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies have noticed drivers speeding while using rural roads to avoid construction projects, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, the Keubler Road project is driving motorists to use Hylo Road South, a rural road with steep hills and multiple blind spots. In the last month, deputies have issued 39 citations for driving 60-73 mph in the 45 mph zone.

The Sheriff's Office understands that people want to get home after a hard day's work, but are asking drivers slow down and observe the 45 mph limit set for Keubler Road.

Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are also launching a seat belt operation May 16-29. Additionally, deputies are adding DUII patrols over Memorial Day Weekend.
