MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

Burning flower pots at a Milwaukie-area manufacturing business sent a large column of black smoke into the sky Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to Anderson Die & Manufacturing on the 2400 block of Southeast Moores Street off of Ochoco Street at around 12:30 p.m.

Investigators said the fire started in bark dust and spread to thousands of plastic flower pots produced at the business.

The burning pots threatened an adjacent building, but crews were able to control the fire and keep it from spreading.

There were no reports of injuries in connection with the fire.

Investigators said the fire was caused by an improperly discarded cigarette.
