Man on Salem Police's '10 Most Wanted' taken into custody

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Another one of the Salem Police Department’s ‘10 Most Wanted’ was taken into custody Friday.

According police, Larry Hatlestad, 37, was spotted riding his bicycle on Portland Road Northeast near Wayside Terrance at about 10:30 a.m.

Police said Hatlestad attempted to ride away from officers on his bike before abandoning it in the 2400 block of Edgewood Avenue Northeast.

According to police, he then ran through yards and climbed over fences.

Officers established a perimeter and two K-9’s were called to assist in the search.

According to police, Hatlestad surrendered to officers in the backyard of a home in the 2400 block of Carleton Way Northeast.

Hatlestad was wanted for a parole violation, as well as a bench warrant for failure to appear.

According to Police, he was also charged with interfering with a police officer, criminal mischief II for fence damage, and two counts of criminal trespass II.

In addition, Hatlestad was cited for another count of interfering with a police officer for an incident that occurred on April 8th.

Since the Salem Police Department initiated the "10 Most Wanted" in January 2010, 231 persons have been featured and 200 of those have been arrested.
