Volunteers help clean up Southwest Portland beach

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Dozens of volunteers braved the cool wet weather Saturday to help clean up a Southwest Portland Beach.

The nonprofit ‘Human Access Project’ along with local families scrubbed down Poet’s Beach Saturday afternoon.

Poet’s Beach is a trail along the Willamette River, which is lined with poetry, by children that is engraved into rocks.

The poetry was scrubbed down so the rocks stay looking good.

Poet’s Beach will be the put-in site for the 6th annual Big Float on the Willamette River in July.

The ‘Human Access Project’ is working to create more accessibility points to the Willamette River, as well as inspire more people to get into the river.
