PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Sensors picked up a series of small earthquakes under Mount Hood, but experts say they're nothing to worry about.

The U.S. Geological Survey's website reported several dozen earthquakes near Mount Hood Village beginning Sunday evening and continuing into Monday morning.

The tremors were all very weak, with the strongest one measuring 1.9 on the Richter scale.

Seth Moran with the Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver said swarms such as these aren't anything out of the ordinary for the mountain.

Moran said similar events happen once or twice a year, on average.

The earthquakes are not connected to recent seismic activity at nearby Mount St. Helens, Moran added.

Both Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens remain in the "normal" alert level on the USGS website.
