MONMOUTH, OR (KPTV) -

A woman was killed in a head-on crash on Highway 194 west of Monmouth on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 6 near Fishback Road at 12:50 p.m.

Investigators said a 1997 Dodge Neon was heading east on the highway when it crossed the centerline, hitting an oncoming 2006 Dodge pickup.

The driver of the Neon, Tara Kadell, 30, of Independence, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, Lacey Mclaren, 23, of Portland, was not injured, but police said she had a felony warrant for first-degree theft out of Linn County. She was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.

Police said a passenger in the pickup, Jason Lee Greer, 33, of Oregon City, ran away from the scene. Greer had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest, according to investigators, and he has not yet been located.

Two children in the truck were not injured.

Witnesses told police the Neon was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

Highway 194 was closed for about five hours following the crash.
