Police: Report of drug dealer near Burnside Bridge leads to arrest, stolen gun

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Officers responding to reports of a drug dealer near the Burnside Bridge arrested a suspect and seized drugs and a stolen handgun, according to police.

Bicycle patrol officers arrived at Northwest Naito Parkway, just north of the bridge, at 10:56 a.m. Friday.

The officers said they located the suspect, 45-year-old Jeffrey Lamar Seward, who they were familiar with from previous incidents.

Based on information gathered by police, Seward was arrested on heroin charges.

Officers searched his backpack and pockets and located a small amount of suspected methamphetamine, a prescription pill and a syringe loaded with suspected heroin, according to police.

Additionally, the officers said they located and seized a stolen handgun in Seward's backpack.

Seward was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of delivery of heroin, possession of heroin, felon in possession of a firearm, first-degree theft, attempted possession of methamphetamine, possession of a loaded firearm and fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
