BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A piece of metal impaled a car's windshield on Highway 26 in Beaverton, but the driver and passenger walked away with no serious injuries.

A Beaverton Police Department spokesman described Monday's incident as a freak accident.

A large piece of metal similar to a mower blade kicked up from the roadway and hit the car. It went through the windshield and got lodged in the dashboard.

A teenage passenger was hit with several small glass fragments, but she was not transported to the hospital.

Police believe the piece of metal likely fell off another vehicle heading down the highway.
