After asking for the public's help Monday, police located the family of a homeless man who was found dead near The Dalles.

Officers responded to a campsite off Interstate 84 near Milepost 79 at 7:30 a.m. May 10 on the report of a man who had died.

Investigators said the death of 69-year-old Donald Vernon Delavergne is not considered suspicious. The cause of death is being investigated by the medical examiner as a medically related incident.

Police said Delavergne, who was most recently using the last name of Wonder, had lived in the area for some time. His body was found by a good Samaritan who had befriended Delavergne and had been providing assistance to him, according to troopers.

Oregon State Police said they took extensive measures to identify and locate family members, but none were found. After putting out a call for the public's help Monday, police said family members were quickly contacted.

The public's help is no longer sought in this case.
